Plans for the Northwest Pinball & Arcade ShowThe last couple of newsletters have asked for your opinions about how we participate in the upcoming Northwest Pinball & Arcade Show. We appreciate all of the input, and I’m writing to share the plan. We will be sending (most of) our games to the Show. Owners have been contacted, and most have opted to have their games at NWPAS. We’ll have our own row again, likely with NWPC banners at one or both ends. NWPC at the Show Setup in Tacoma is Thursday, June 6th and Adam Calabrese will be in charge of setting up our row. If you’re working setup, I’m sure he’d appreciate your help—and so would our games!Last year, our booth was like that distant relative at a family gathering—awkwardly far from the games. This time, we’re ditching the full booth drama and setting up shop right in the game row. Plus, We’re reaching out to potential coordinators and will likely be putting out the call for volunteers soon. Stay tuned! Sanctuary Closure The Sanctuary will be closed for approximately a week before and a week after the Show. This is to prep games beforehand and to get everything set up again afterward. The more volunteers we have, the faster it will go and sooner we can re-open! Pre-Show Prep EventsPrepping games for NWPAS isn’t difficult, but it does take a lot of people-power, and we appreciate everyone pitching in. All experience levels are welcome—we’re glad to train newbies! Here are the dates & times we have planned:Tuesday May 21, 5-9pm: Cleaning party (replaces Tech Tuesday) Saturday June 1, noon – 4pm: Game prep with Adam Calabrese (replaces Free-Play Open House)Sunday June 2, noon – 4pm: Game prep with Adam CalabreseTuesday June 4, 5-9pm: Game prep with Chris Force We have each of those events divided into two-hour shifts. Volunteer It’s all about the Show right now. If you’d like to volunteer, please sign up for a game prep shift or two. If those times don’t work for you and you’d like to pitch in during other times, please let us know! |
Donate Here are a few of the items that we could use to improve the Sanctuary:A printer; It’d be useful to be able to print on-site!A locking file cabinet; We’re currently storing documents in multiple places. It’d be nice to have them all on-site and secure.A gently-used desk. The table tends to become a catch-all and get messy. We think a small desk would be a more efficient use of space. And of course, cash helps as well. Here are some ways to contribute to the Collective financially. Direct Donations: We accept donations via our website, Venmo, and the red cash box near the door inside the Sanctuary. All donations are tax-deductible. Please contact the board (nwpinballcollective@gmail.com, or reply to this message) if you’d like a tax receipt. Corporate Matching: NWPC is eligible for corporate matches. Some companies only match financial donations, but others (like Microsoft) will also make contributions for each hour their employees volunteer. If we’re not already in your company’s giving directory, please let us know and we’ll do our best to get there! We’re also looking at changing our dues structure so that some portion becomes a donation (and therefore tax-deductible and employer-matchable). Keep your eyes peeled for that announcement. |
